A little later than I’d have liked, but here we are! A series of creative writing events in Eastleigh, Winchester, and Southampton. Links are to our Meetup page, where you can RSVP for meetings. Workshops must be pre-booked, Write Ins should be RSVP’d, and Socials are drop-in as you like. 21 March – Plot and Structure – Venue TBC – £15

18 April – Songwriting – Eastleigh Library – £10

16 May – Write In – Eastleigh Library – By Donation (£2 suggested)
We’ll be looking to put a dent in those word counts. Bring a work-in-progress, or I’ll have some writing prompts available. I’m hoping for an hour and a half of writing time, followed by a half hour of discussions or pairing up to critique.

31 May – Editing Your Work – Venue TBC – £15
This session will focus on bringing your work up to the desired industry standard- we only have one chance to make a good impression with our stories and screenplays so it is important not to rush them out the door! We will be covering drafting, editing, proof-editing, formatting and more. Session notes with examples will be provided.Craig J Rickard has been working in various roles in the industry for fifteen years, from ghostwriter to story surgeon, writing coach and editor. In 2018 alone he has had a client sell a screenplay to Blumhouse Productions for £75,000, and has had two former students signed up to prose agencies. He has also helped clients self-publish and provided 1-2-1 story coaching on several projects.

7 June – Interactive Fiction – The Hyde Tavern – £10

July (Date TBC) – Screenwriting Workshop – Eastleigh Library – £10
Join award nominated screenwriter and editor Craig J Rickard for an introduction to writing for the screen. Recently Craig edited a screenplay that sold for £75,000 and has been working in and around the industry for seventeen years.This workshop will cover the basics of formatting, structure and take an in depth look at the importance of story and plot. The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, and there will be time for questions at the end of the session.

5 September – Worldbuilding Workshop – The Art House Cafe – £10
